Baie-Comeau, July 29, 2019. – As part of its 2019 railway maintenance program, the Société du port ferroviaire de Baie-Comeau (SOPOR) will be undertaking measures to control vegetation in order to ensure the safe functioning of train operations and prevent damage to railway equipment.
Work Schedule
During the week of August 12, herbicides will be sprayed along the entire right-of-way. The work will be done in accordance with Quebec’s Pesticides Management Code and will abide by the requirements of the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Environment, and Fight against Climate Change (MELCC).
Safety Recommendations
We recommend that residents avoid the area for 14 days after the herbicide has been sprayed, and refrain from eating wild berries growing nearby for the entire 2019 season.
